BTW, I have noticed the iTUnes runs VERY slow on windows, no matter how good your computer is. But it is very very good on the mac.

Yahoo Microsoft= Yahoo! by microsoft. Everything could be the same but with tiny little letters saying by microsoft, and Live accounts can already IM Yahoo! messenger, so they could merge it easy. Right!? Kill Live (even though the interface looks SOO good. Very apple like) Or is there something I am missing.

I don’t know why, but I think .Mac should be a search engine, with a free acount. Google? :0

Actually, taking some pics during show production would be cool. Maybe I’ll do it for our next podcast, which’ll be hopefully next weekend, right after Macworld and CES.

I alos have a Skype headset, but you can’t beat the SM58 for quality. Skype is good, but we try to record the bulk of our show together, as a direct recording yields higher quality than Skype, though we do sometimes have Austen over Skype for interviews.

What a nice setup - it’s not overly elaborate, but just enough to do the job WELL. I’m impressed! One day, you ought to get some pics while the show is being produced. That’d be neat.

Have you tried any of the “gaming” headsets with a boom mic? I know the SM58 is a good vocal mic, but I’ve always liked having a boom mic attached to the headphones. For SKYPE, I have a little toy headset and my friend has the same - I was totally impressed with how good a SKYPE call can sound, even with low-cost headsets (I got mine at Walmart one day, for about $20!)

Great show, and it keeps getting better!

While doing a Podzinger (http://www.podzinger.com) search for “Congdon” I was directed to your site. After subscribing to TTB in iTunes, i was able to set the play bar to 5:35, where indeed, your story about the “weird woman” could be found. Cool!

I’m running the OpenLink firmware on my LinkStation 250 and it works great. I used it to install NFS & Bonjour (which I compiled myself) so I can access it by name instead of IP address.

I find that the two standard protocols, SMB & AFP have their problems. SMB is painfully slow & AFP doesn’t handle long file names properly. NFS is fast and works beautifully. Thanks. I do try to work with audio levels, but I don’t work with them as much as I should. As for filenames, our current naming scheme is meant for acrchiving the files, not oepning them for listening. Most of our listeners use iTunes anyway, but we’ll try to work on a fix.

Great show, good information. Like I said somewhere recently, better information that I get from almost anywhere else.

Your interview was terrific. Watch out - soon you’ll be competing with National Public Radio. You have worked out most of the technical glitches.

I look forward to #11! Oh yeah - one negative comment - the scream from Austen … maybe teens got it, but I didn’t. But, I’m an old fogie.

Hi guys, just listened to TTB # 9. It was helpful, I liked your update on the .mac and iWeb services. I’ve got a friend who I’m helping with some webstuff, and she intends to use those services soon. I looked a little on the web for some background, but your review cut to the point and told me what I need to know.

Also, I’m glad to hear about the no-strings functionality of youtube.com. I’ve tried a couple of video hosts (put file, googlevideo) and this youtube sounds a lot cleaner. So I opened and account there this morning.

Tips for your podcast: Work on your audio levels so they are more consistent, leave some space between features so that the cuts are not so abrupt, and please put your episode number in your file names — it will help me sort them out and manage the downloads on my harddrive.

Backup Backup Backup!

Your show is excellent. But a tip here: Before editing anything; a photo, an audio file, video … make a backup of it. Especially true with lossy compression - JPEG, MPEG, MP3, “MP4″ - everytime you “re-encode” you lose information.

You found out the hard way that a backup can really save you.

DJOJ, I don’t use a mac, i’m a unix/windows/linux kid LOL. (BASH 4TW!). The only sort of comedy i’de ever participate in would be a “we hate tech sort” (it’s a real podcast, but it just ended, by glen and josh, google it if you’de like) of podcast, but I think I would stirr up a lot of legal problems if I participated in anything of that sort.
